In 2015 BT announced the PSTN & ISDN switch off moving the UK to a full IP by 2025! It has been a phased approach across the country but many exchanges now operating as IP only with analogue and digital services are no longer available to order.
Businesses and consumers who are still currently utilising traditional analogue and digital services for their voice communications will need to move over to IP solutions when the local exchange is enabled. Moving to data only, means the customers voice aspect of communication, need to be considered and moved to a different type of platform.
Now the physical connections are changing to the premises, apart from just supplying Voice and Broadband other critical services could also be affected.
• Fax lines
• Fire and security lines
• Pay Phones
• Lift emergency lines
There are 2 main options, customers services will need to be migrated to either SoGEA or Fibre to the Premise (FTTP).
Using FTTC (Fibre To The Cabinet only, a superfast broadband) SoGEA is a stand-alone and does not require a PSTN line. Quick to install and offers speeds up to 80Mb, SoGEA truly future-proofs customers connectivity. Current UK footprint is approx. 96%
FTTP (Fibre To The Premises) is a true end-to-end fibre solution, from the local exchange to the premises, current UK footprint is expanding month on month in line with the 2025 switch off campaign.
If fibre is available that's the option to choose.
